I did not read the other two books in this trilogy but it didn't impede my enjoyment of this one. This is a well written story which uses the Bible as it's base for the telling the story. I know the author is Jewish so I am sure he knows the history of that people better than I do. I had not heard of Lilah before but I do know the story of Ezra and the building of the temple. It is a well written book that will have you asking questions about bias and true love.
