Valerian Romney and his half-brother Phelan flee their home when Val is accused of murdering their father. Valerian disguises himself as a woman and poses as Phelan's wife. Juliette McGowan is fleeing her abusive husband dressed as a boy. Their lives intersect as each is busy trying to keep their identity secret. There's something rather Shakesperean about this tale but it really works! If you like Anne Stuart you will love this one.
