Catherine Hobbes, a Portland homicide detective meets the infamous Joe Pitt, a retired cop cum private detective, while they both search for a killer. Joe is a nice guy, but its obvious Catherine has a chip on her shoulder and playing well with others isnt her strong suit. It isnt long, however, before they realize Tanya, is responsible for the murder that connected them, as well as several others. The reader meets Tanya early on and you cant help but feel sorry for her as youre introduced to her childhood, which makes her what she is today. Each kill moves her farther down the slope of mental illness, but its amazing how she manages to lead a normal life, and still learn and grow in her ability to elude law enforcement and Catherine at every turn.

I enjoyed this book as the characters were well developed, the plot moved quickly, and its unusual to read about a female serial killer.
