I couldn't wait. I was on wishlist forever. So I bought this book from Amazon. (using the pBS link, of course!)
and now I wish I had waited. I've gotten only half way through, and I'm going to give up.
I love Joyce Meyer, and love her teachings- especially Battlefield of the Mind.
I was very curious about her story, and how she got where she is today.
I initially liked the writing style. Third party, talking about Joyce, and Dave and all her kids- Telling Joyce's story, without too many gory details- but by the time I gave up, I found it tedious.
One line that set me off, and stopped me in my tracks- Meyers were so poor that they had to stoop to wearing thrift store and garage sale clothing.
WHAT? that makes someone poor? and what about all this cleaning up Joyce to make her presentable to the public?
That does not match the Joyce I thought I knew- There is a lot of faith and a wonderful journey in this book, but frankly by the time her ministry had started to take off, I just didn't want to hear about it any more.
Things got way too technical, I don't care about the financing and money, I just want to hear about her struggles and milestones.
