Well, this one was a surprise! It looked like just another old-fashioned Regency, but the subject matter was very dark. You've got PTSD and attempted suicide(the hero, Jack Caldwell), a recluse who gets kidnapped and locked up in an insane asylum(the heroine, Marianne), references to past events including horrible violence and sexual assault, plus there is a plot to steal the heroine's rightful inheritance.
Don't get me wrong, it was a good read, but not a light one. It was great to see them get their HEA, and Marianne wins through due to her own bravery, and not just getting rescued by Jack, although he gets to do that too.
