Book Review of Marked (House of Night, Bk 1)

Marked (House of Night, Bk 1)

This was an entertaining book based on a girl who is becoming a vampyre. Interesting new twists with some fun and pain along the way. The book does read a little strangely at times but the overall story overpowers that.

I've been reading a lot of the reviews and everyone tries to compare this to Twilight by Stephanie Meyers. I cannot be compared. That is a perfect love story between a couple teens and some stuff happens, the end. This book and the rest of the series keeps you sucked in with lots of different twists and the heroine in this book actually deals with her problems, and lots of them. There are real issues and relationships dealt with in this book, it is not the near-perfect twinkling vampire world of Twilight. If you want just a romance, this is not the book for you. If you want something with some good times and bad (and some awkward, like random spelling bee vocab mixed in - and defined for you) then give this series a shot.
