Simply lovely! Even without the sexy bits to add some spice to the romance, I recognize good story-telling when I read it. Gideon was a tantalizing hero in the first book (Sheriff of Savage Wells), but in Healing Hearts he came alive with so many intriguing layers to explore. He's truly the swoon-worthy sort. His steadfast and caring nature soothed the fearful Miriam, the capable nurse with so many secrets of her own. She's lucky to be alive. On the other hand, the evil and manipulating Dr. Blackburn gave me chills every time he came on the scene. How heartwarming that the townsfolk, however reluctant they were to accept her, eventually rallied during her time of crisis. It's a satisfying read at 4 stars.
