I enjoyed this Science Fiction Romance. The author twisted familiar themes and situations, like alien abduction and examinations, long-lost loves, hope and redemption and made them unique. This story, sort of a Planet of the Apes/Star Trek TOS ep combo has good low-tech worldbuilding, realistic socio-political worldbuilding, cool aliens, a few good twists, and a very good love story with an ending I found very satisfying.

There are many mild love scenes but nothing very graphic and very few explicit words--it's not an erotic romance, but a sensual one.

The characters are solid and grow throughout the story. The heroine is strong, intelligent and independent. The hero is handsome, gifted and, eventually well-rounded.

I wasn't sure I'd like this book and it seemed a fairly light read while I was reading it...but it's been a week and I still keep thinking about the story. I hadn't planned to keep it to reread but now I am. I liked this story enough that I've added Ms. Hendricks' other SFR novels to my To Buy list, and sent the author feedback--which she very nicely replied to.
