Fifteen years ago young foster-kid Christian had a crush on foster brother Jonah but then bad boy Jonah got in trouble with the law and the two boys lost touch. Now their foster mom has died and the two boys are both back to help fix up her house for resale. And while the guys have both grown and changed, they both feel that an attraction that is still there.
While Christian is now an out gay man, Jonah is a bit of a mystery with a somewhat ambivalent sexual preferences. Have the two changed too much to take advantage of this second chance? Or can they overcome their issues and finally get together the way that Christian always thought that they could?
Overall this book is a success and a great m/m read. The story has a great romantic premise and to a large degree that premise is fulfilled amid a number of pretty hot sex scenes.
On the down side, while the unfolding of the story may be enough for some, I felt that at points the author had not trusted the material and tried to add layers of unnecessary tension and detail that didn't always work. They didn't add to the sexual aspects of the story nor did they answer the back-story questions that I wanted to see filled out.
On the plus side, both protagonists were likable from the start and the often passive role assumed by the former "bad boy " made this an even more interesting read for me. In many ways the story was what one would expect but then in other aspects it would be just the opposite.
This is a fast and compelling read and I suggest that readers who find the premise appealing, read it and decide for themselves.
