"Dr. Les Tennet has great hands. Show him to an operating room and he'll perform medical wonders. But at home, Les and his wife Katherine are painfully aware that even a talented surgeon can't heal some things--a disabled daughter, a son in trouble and a marriage on the rocks.

To make matters worse, Tennet's Army Reserve unit gets called to active duty in Saudi Arabia as America's military undertakes Operation Desert Storm.

In the sands of the Saudi desert, Les Tennet finds himself wrestling with the problems that threaten to overwhelm him and destroy his family. There too, he finds Nelson Reed, a chaplain who becomes a friend and offers him a faith to conquer the torment of his soul."
