The photography in this was great.

However, I had a son. 1 quote--1!--out of the entire book used a male pronoun for the baby. The rest were either daughters or neutral. I find it hard to find myself in a book if reader is assumed to be male all the time. Apparently I also have trouble seeing my son in a book that is all female.

An awful lot of the quotes were from Pam Brown also, who I've never heard of. They were fine quotes, but really--didn't anyone else say anything? Same thing about the son/daughter thing--didn't anyone say anything about their sons worth quoting? I would have expected very few people to have multiple quotes, and a balance between son/daughter/neutral. The latter bothers me a great deal, and I just grew tired of seeing the same name for the former.

It's not a bad book. The photos are nice. The quotes are nice. It just as a whole didn't sit well with me; the editor needed to be a bit more open minded, broadly read, and balanced.
