Killer Green Tomatoes is the second installment in the Farm-to-Fork Mystery series set in River Vista, Idaho and featuring Angie Turner, owner of the farm to table restaurant, County Seat. The new restaurant is gaining a following with local reviews favorable and Angie is looking to add her grandmother's summer treat of Fried Green Tomatoes to the menu.

When sous Chef Estebe Blackstone suggests that Angie visit his cousin, Javier to negotiate for the purchase of tomatoes from the family's Pamplona Farms, Angie thinks that she's found a perfect supplier. However, upon meeting Javier it quickly becomes apparent that the playboy with a smarmy attitude is not well like by his Cousin Estebe or some of the other Basque community members.

When Javier's girlfriend Heather turns up dead, he becomes the prime suspect. Javier disappears and even though Estebe doesn't really like his cousin he asks Angie for help clearing his name. Despite her misgivings, Angie sets out with the help of her restaurant partner Felicia Williams and boyfriend Ian McNeal to track down a killer.

The author brings back familiar characters and introduces the feisty and often funny elderly neighbor Mrs. Potter, and Angie's Saint Bernard pup, Dom and goat Precious make brief appearances. I didn't like the first in this series so wasn't sure about reading this one. While I did think it was better than the first there's still something rubbing me the wrong way - not sure if it's the characters or the author's writing style. I will be on the lookout for the next in the series and hopefully the third time will be the charm that hooks me in.
