Historical fiction at its best. Thoroughly researched, meticulously detailed. Reading it creates incredible empathy for the characters b/c it is as if you are experiencing the horrors of Hitler's invasion of Luxemborg, Belgiam, and France through the narrative. I usually race through fiction, but I read this one slowly b/c I didn't want it to end! Oh, and the little bit of romance included in the book is not sappy or surupy, for which I am grateful.
