Book Review of Downsiders

I think this book has wonderful imagery and beautiful musings about cities, but the story is kind of loose and wanders and sometimes gets lost. There are parts where you completely forget about the story, lost in the lovely descriptions of Talon (SPOILER) seeing the sun for the first time, or the Golden Tunnels, and then suddenly something huge happens and you're confused. Other than that, the first sentence pulled me in like a rip tide. "Cities are never random." Something about that sentence made me want to keep reading.
