This book was okay, I guess. Most of the focus was on the mother and the difficult childhood that she had, instead of the teenager who was going through this terrible event. I never could grasp the relevance of the mother's past experiences, which took most of the book to explain, to the child's situation. This made the ending a little abrupt to me as far as the teenage daughter's decision was concerned and disjointed as far as why she decided to do what she did.
