Published in 1973 this is a story for a child who is beginning to read. The story is centered around an African-American boy living in a city. The boy wants to buy a present for his mother and he comes up with a way to work by flagging cabs for customers and saves his money to buy his mother a bracelet. Nice values and morals! The boy is also teased by older kids and he rises above that.
