Book Review of Drood

Drood

771 pages of mystery--this book intrigued me because it gave a colorful picture of Charles Dickens and the Londonof his day, told from the viewpoint of his friend, fellow writer and rival(?), Wilkie Collins. I was never absolutely sure of the story being told: was some of the narration opium dreams? Was the "monster" villain, Drood, real or imagined?
