FBI Agent Ava McLane is taking a week off from her job to unwind. While attending a yoga class at the local mall, a masked shooter walks in randomly shooting bystanders. Ava and a wounded teenager are hiding behind a kiosk when the shooter enters the men's room and takes his own life. The police and the FBI form a task force to investigate the incident. Detective Mason Callahan, Ava's boyfriend, questions eyewitnesses and tries to find a reason behind what happened, only to learn of that another mass shooting has taken place in a nearby town.

The third book in the Callahan & McLane series starts out with a bang. The suspense was high as Ava and a shooting victim try to hide from a killer. I was on the edge of my seat the whole time. The incident takes its toll on Ava. She is having nightmares and Mason thinks she should see someone about them. On top of that, Ava's twin sister, Jayne, is causing problems again.

This was a good, twisty mystery. I guessed what was happening early in the book, but I didn't know what the motive would be. I'm looking forward to the last book in the series. My rating: 4 Stars.
