Jo Quincy will do what it takes to keep her family safe, healthy and together. Even if it means cutting her hair, wearing trousers and pretending to be a man to earn wages. But her father taught her to keep books and manage accounts, so she's more than qualified to be a secretary.

Benjamin Sinclair, the Earl of Sinclair, is still trying to recover from war injuries while trying to keep his servants. Can he trust this new secretary with his accounts, with his household staff, or with his heart?

This is the first Shirley Karr book I've ever read and I'm now a big fan. I enjoyed every second of this book, it kept me engaged. I was laughing at the comedy of a man trying not to notice a woman dressed as a man in front of other men or women for that matter. I was proud of the sense of honor, respect and duty in the primary characters that made them so likable. I was sad for the changes (physical and emotional) that shaped the hero and heroine, making them each believe they were unworthy and unlovable. I was delighted to see them both open up, trust and bond with each other as friends and then as passionate lovers. This books is a true page-turner, filled with tenderness, wit, charm, sensuality and sass.
