I wanted to like this book ... I really did. But the characters were just insufferable and the premise was so weak. Cleopatra is asked by a maid, Harmony, to investigate a murder at the hotel owned by her uncle. Why? Nobody know Cleo (she's only been at the hotel one day) and there's no reason to suspect that she can solve a crime. She bumbles around making accusations and tremendous leaps in logic, and when she realizes that she is absolutely clueless, the hotel staff goad her into continuing on. The Mayfair Hotel could have been an intriguing setting, but I, personally, didn't feel the period ambiance, but maybe that was just me. I was also distracted by a handful of editing errors scattered throughout the book. All-in-all, not an enjoyable read.
