Green is stated by Ted Dekker to be the beginning and the end. I've not read his Circle Trilogy, so I thought I would be OK starting out at the "beginning". I was wrong. There are several references in Green about Dekker's Showdown series that left me feeling out in the cold. If I had read those books, these characters may have made more sense to me.

All in all, Dekker does a great job of not getting bogged down with theology and making the deep aspects of Thomas Hunter's life interesting. I was, as previously stated, pretty confused. There is a circle that many have lost faith in, and Thomas's son Samuel turns his back on his father to gather forces to wage his own war.

If the circle is broken, then it's an apocalypse waiting to happen. Thomas must find a way back to his own reality (our reality) to find something that will save them all.
