If I had realized this book was centered on William I don't know if I would have read it. I found myself confused throughout as William and his father were very clearly portrayed in the first book as gamblers and drunks. Now all of a sudden he is portrayed in this book as a love interest? It was strange and just didn't seem believable given Patience's background. I will say that what I enjoy from the first book and this one is the other relationships in the story. I feel those have good detail (the brother-sister fights, the relationship with staff) but the main characters just don't sit well with me.
