As soon as I found out about this book, I could not wait to lay my hands on it. The Gospel According to LOST is written by Chris Seay, a self-described avid LOST fan. In his book, Chris takes 15 of the characters & relates their stories to Scripture. It is evident for anyone who has watched LOST at all that there are very blatant references to Scripture all throughout the show.
Being a self-described avid LOST fan myself, I was extremely excited to read someone else's thoughts on how the gospel message is seen in this phenomenal television program. It was neat to find that some of the connections I had made were also evident to Chris & some connections I had made were thoughtfully written in this book. Although I am typically the type of person who reads a book in a single sitting, I had to force myself to put the book down after each chapter so I could reflect on the words Chris has written.
This is definitely a thought-provoking book that I would recommend to any fan of LOST. In addition, the stunning paintings by Scott Erickson bring an additional insightful element to this book (& having had the opportunity to see the paintings in person make reading this book all the more mind-boggling).
All things considered, I give this book 5 out of 5 stars! A definite must read for every LOST fan. If you are expecting answers to what will occur in the final season of this show, you'll be disappointed. However, if you want to feel like you're sitting down to have coffee with a fellow LOST fan where you can share your insights with each other, you'll be thrilled to read this book.
