From the inside intro:

Activities include experiences with several science processes. Children communicate in various ways. They talk about the new foods they eat, about the changes they see in foods, about how foods taste. They observe the seeds inside fruit and the various colors of fruits and vegetables. They compare foods in many ways: by color, shape, taste, texture, weight, etc. Simple measurement is involved as the children prepare foods by recipes and use the equal arm balance. Children learn to classify foods by color, size, shape, testure, and food group. They use numbers as they count the measures needed for each ingredient in a recipe, count the number of eggs in a dozen and make a one-to-one correspondence between the number of eggs needed and the number of children present.
