Ruby Rubenstein is a fruit and vegetable man. Every morning he jumps out of b ed and hurries down to the market to choose the most perfect fruit and vegetables for his store on Delano Street. And every morning a young boy named Sun Ho comes to watch Ruby work his magic as Ruby piles apples, tangerines, and pears in perfect pyramids, arranges grapes in diamonds, and then tucks in a bunch of broccoli or a bit of watercress for trim. Sun Ho thinks it is like seeing a great artist at work. Soon Ruby is teaching Sun Ho how to sniff out and select the best produce at the farmer's market, arrange it in eye-catching displays at the store, and even work the cash register. But one day Ruby gets sick. What will the neighborhood do without their fruit and vegetable man?

Delightful illustrations.
