This is one of the saddest true crime books I've read. A storybook, upscale family is destroyed when the father, who lives beyond his means decides to hire someone to kill his beautiful wife. He has a mistress, of course, and there is a million plus life insurance policy on his wife. However, he is so egotistical that he believes his three sons, as well as the community, will support him without question even though evidence against him is overwhelming. His sons did stand behind him during the trial, where he was sentenced to death. The story of the two older boys slowly facing the truth about their father is heartbreaking, as is the fact that the youngest continued to cling to the 'blind faith' he had in his father.
