I gave this a rating of 3 stars on the grounds of E for effort, but I really wish we had a rating for meh, because I think I would give it.
It isn't just the frequent errors that turned me off (whiskey with an E is American, not Scottish; "Sir" Robert Maxwell could be a baronet but he's not a baron; and "The gown could be shook or brushed out" isn't exactly felicitious grammar) -- lots of good authors have made mistakes in their early books, particularly before there was internet to factcheck easily. Mostly I just couldn't get interested and skimmed a lot to the end.
I don't mean this is a terrible book written to rip off readers; I don't think it is. Clearly the author likes regency romances. She just could use a good editor until she has a better handle on her craft.
