Written in the Regency period it's about Georgia Canning who aspires to be a scholar. She wants to see her mother settled so sets a courtship in motion. All went well until Georgia tries to rout a suitor, rakish Lord Ashcombe, who is most unsuitable for her mother. Her mother agrees knowing the nobleman is the very man to entice her scheming, bookish daughter to matrimony instead. Convinced that Lucas merely felt a brotherly affection for her, Georgia was too busy scheming to listen to the promptings of her heart.
