I have enjoyed this book and this series. Some of the characters repeat from other books in this series - however it does not matter (IMO) if you read them out of order.

Muchamore is a good author, one of the things he does well is developing the younger characters. The adults are more two dimensional - but that's okay, it's not about them.

Some YA authors are shy about "the urges" that teens have. Muchamore does a great job about threading that needle, you know that the teens have urges - they are not ignored -- yet the teens restrain them in a mature way (abstinence).

In the more contemporary series CHERUBS he has gay characters, which I think is great, Muchamore doesn't really spend the effort of getting into their heads like he does with the straight charaters.
