Were it not for the subject matter, this book would be fairly boring. Priests reciting prayers (always the same ones), Robbie (fictional name of the possessed boy) spitting, urinating, throwing things at the wall .... While I like to believe there is some psychological explanation hiding there somehow - we know more now than in 1949, some things are very hard to "explain".
I did not know that an exorcism takes so long, months in this case. It takes some real stamina by the priests to see something like this through.
