Dead Before Morning (Rafferty and Llewellyn, Bk 1)

Author Geraldine Evans wrote this book to introduce her future series featuring the detective team of Inspector Rafferty & Sergeant Llewellyn.

When the nude, bludgeoned body of a young prostitute is found on the grounds of Elmhurst Psychiatric Hospital, the first task of Insp. Joseph Rafferty is to identify the victim. Her clothes were stolen, her face beaten beyond recognition. Insp. Rafferty's blunt style clashes with his precise, logical partner, Sergeant Llewellyn, and with the hospital's suave, well-connected Dr. Melville-Briggs, who is fast becoming the prime suspect. But when the identity of the woman is determined, a complicated web of new suspects--and motives--emerges, as Rafferty discovers even clever killers can make murderous mistakes.

Enjoyed this book. Just enough of the 'cozy' touch to take the bad taste out of a nasty murder. Does not cross the line to ridiculous as some cozies seem to do after awhile.
