Ms Anderson is a new author to me but she may become a new favorite. I am overwhelmed by the powerful story that she tells. This is the first book in a 4 book series.
Set in Texas in the late 1850's and early 1860's, when the white man was trying to destroy all Comanche and vice versa, a young white girl and a Comanche warrior strive to learn trust and to love, all the while fulfilling a great Comanche legend.
This book does contain graphic descriptions of the horrors heaped on each group by the other but without those descriptions, the full scope of how much mistrust and misunderstanding needed to be overcome by Hunter and Loretta could not be fully appreciated.
This book kept me spellbound and it was hard to put down long enough to do necessary things like sleep.
