Why Vietnam Still Matters was written to help with the VVFM's mission of educating the American public about the Vietnam War and the ongoing societal consequences of America's longest military engagement. A wide variety of people were asked to tell high school students the most important lesson of the Vietnam War. Volunteers at the Memorial were asked to tell of poignant moments there, and remarks from prominent Americans are also included.
