A good read, very intense.

*POSSIBLE SPOILERS*

However it was spoiled a bit for me by a vagueness as to the status of the boy Archie; I had the impression that the author believes Archie could inherit the hero's title, which he couldn't, as he was legally the son of another man.

For me the most moving and convincing passage in the book is Dominic's painful sense of betrayal when he learns that his loved and respected father pretended acceptance of his betrothal to Arabella Tatton, the girl he loved, but went behind his back to break up the match by sending him away on a pretext and destroying his letters to Arabella. Dominic's reaction to this revelation is not just an arbitrary plot point; it's real and raw.
