If you like to read historical type books, then this is a good one for you. I love to read about how things were in "olden times" and this book follows a midwife that works in a small town/area in the 1830's. I love how this book fleshes out the main character- not just her work, but her hopes, dreams, history, and family. There are many little side aspects to life in the town and it sets up an interest for the sequel, esp regarding what happens with her daughter. I can highly recommend this book.
