Witty writing and occasional actual chuckles within the dialogue couldn't prompt me to finish this book. The hero isn't that likeable and the whole concept of magic being real and gods and goddesses and wizards running around wasn't to my liking. A slightly more grown up audience than those who enjoy Harry Potter books was a likely target; not me.
