OMG! Our entire pack of dogs are Jewish while only three-quarters of our family is Jewish/ Buddhist/ Zen somethingorother/ Baha'i while one-quarter is fundamental Christian/ You've got to be kidding/ Baha'i. According to the book, we doted and spoiled all the dogs waaaay too much. We give them treats up the wazoo for doing absolutely nothing. They can all stare us down instilling guilt in us for withholding treats. The big ones (one mixed black lab and one mixed golden lab-ish) lay down on the floor so the mini dachshund can grab their necks and wrestle them around the floor but then she's the alpha dog [and cat, but that's another story how she learned to speak cat] in the house, in the neighborhood, and in the world. They are all big, big food fussers, so if their treats aren't up to par or we're eating at the wrong fast food drive-in, they absolutely refuse to eat anything making us feel guilty for giving them "traif." Oy vey! So, we have to go to a different fast food place that has actual meat in their hamburgers to get them to even nibble on their "treat"/ hamburger. They're worse than my mother at making us feel bad about what we/ they eat, where they sleep (two of the little ones sleep with somebody, the two big ones have their own half-eaten couch and recliner to sleep in except if it's thundering, then the biggest one lies across my husband's chest cutting off all means of him breathing until the storm passes), and what are their toys and what are ours.
