After 2 years on the Russian front, Ernst Graeber finally gets three week's leave. But his leaves have been cancelled before, so he doesn't notify his family. When he gets home, he finds his house bombed and his family gone. As his leave draws to a close, Graeber reaches out to childhood friend Elizabeth. Can her comfort lead to something more in this war-torn country?
