Short vignettes - all originating in Knockemstiff, Ohio - link many of the town folk. Spanning 30 years this small Midwestern town comes alive with the town taking on its own ambiance. The town population - some of which are pretty vile and vulgar - are sprinkled throughout all 18 linked stories.
This is a debut book by Pollack. I have heard - although not yet read - that his newer books are much better.
