While this book offers great info for a beginner, it really is very basic. It told how to tell the sex of a male and female but didn't offer a picture so a person could see the difference. It also never mentioned the mosaic or lavender chinchilla. Overall it's good for background, feeding, cage requirements, illness, and what happens when a baby is born so it covered the major areas; I just felt it left out a lot that could/should have been added.
