Another fantastic Eve Dallas story, and easily one of (if not THE) best, Eve is called to investigate a homicide and discovers to her horror that the victim is a cop, and the lover of her friend, medical examiner Morris. From the first painful moment of her identification of the victim, and her distress at having to bring the terrible news to him, to her fierce and dogged investigation while dealing with Morris's grief, the emotions in this book do not let up. We get an occasional light-hearted reprieve when Eve has to suffer through the bridal shower for her friend Louise, but Robb keeps the tension high to the very end, which is done in the spectacular and satisfying way that her fans have come to expect.
