Regan Southworth is determined to help her father fulfill his dream of finding Avalon. She creeps into the family castle of the MacGregors, said to be cursed and haunted. The laird, Lachlan MacGregor, known as Mad MacGregor, finds Regan and knows she is up to something. To keep an eye on her, he hires her as his grandmother's companion.

While he has said he will never marry, because of the curse, Lachlan is extremely attracted to Regan. But there are all sorts of strange things going on in the castle, and someone is trying to hurt Regan. Of course, her natural curiosity makes her want to investigate the mysteries of the MacGregor Clan even more. Will Regan find Avalon, and solve the mysteries of the Clan? Will Mad MacGregor return her feelings? Can they get past their pasts and live happily together?
