I really enjoyed this novel, a welcome change from many which are based on a romance. Claudette Fiore, the main character, is a strong-willed 80-year-old woman who, after leading a life of fame and fortune, must return to her small home town and create the next chapter of her life after her financial resources are unexpectedly depleted. In some cases, Claudettes character seemed far more agile than someone of her age, but her challenge to adapt to advancing age and diminished finances was honest and often humorous.
