This nonfiction book is based on the memories of Owen Chase who was aboard the Whaleship Essex when it was stove in by a whale. If you are interested in sailing, survival, nautical history or just good stories you might like this. If you are interested in American Literature, you might find this interesting. Owen Chase told his tale to a fellow named Herman Melville on another voyage and it was Melville's inspiration for Moby Dick.
