Short and Sweet:
Arclight has a lot of good going on; primarily a unique story line in a midst of many, many, MANY dystopian books. However, the story is often predictable and at times hard to follow. I found it hard to get through this one. :(
To Elaborate....
Marina is the only girl to ever return from the Dark, but doesn't she remember anything from her life before being rescued. The story starts out on a confusing note with little information for the reader. We know that a group of people are in a room that is going into lock down because the 'Fade' have breached Arclight and are coming to get that group of people, specifically Marina. Toby, who starts off surly and rebellious never to return that way again, saves Marina during this breach. Cue 'insta-love-feelings' There are several more characters who never get fleshed out enough to connect to and eventually one of the 'Fade' is captured and the book shifts gears majorly. To say anything more would spoil the best aspect of the book: what the 'Fade' actually are.
I really wanted to like this book, but I just couldn't get into it. Maybe it was the comparison in the blurb to Veronica Roth's books, but this was no Divergent for me. Not even close.
