The adventures of Decius Caecilius Metellus the Younger, now a Senator in the waning days of the Roman Republic, continue in the 3rd book of this series. The flavor of Rome, grand, decadent, and decaying, is portrayed well. The mystery is intense, but since the book stays fairly close to history, the ending is inevitable. Well worth reading, just don't get bogged down in the long, complicated names of the characters.
