This one (number 8 in the series) seemed to be a weird interlude to the story. The characters are all still there, and they're continuing on to their goal, but there just doesn't seem to be much going in this book. Not much action, pretty weak battle, and very little in the way of advancing the overall story.
The artwork seems to be different. Most obvious is that the characters have different/new outfits now, and Fenris and Iris are sporting new hairstyles. Beyond that, the artwork itself seems different -- almost as if it were drawn by a different person. It's still good, just different (which was a bit distracting to me).
The weirdest bit, though, had to be the freaky, pseudo-lesbian bath scene at the beginning. Still a fun read, just not as good as the previous books.
