There are 4 terrific abridged books in this Select Editions. The only one I didn't read was "Summer Light" by Luanne Rice since I don't like romances. "Echo Burning" by Lee Child is about a woman on the run who picks up a helpful hitchhiker, Jack Reacher. As Jack commits to helping her he starts wondering if her plight is real or one of deception. "The Rich Part of Life" by Jim Kokoris is a heartfelt story about a father who wins the lottery and in the process of not overtly spending it, he and his oldest son rediscover their love for each other. Different relatives and their friends start arriving at the house and seem to have trouble leaving. These characters and the boy provide a lot of humor throughout the book. "On the Street Where You Live" by Mary Higgins Clark is a suspenseful pageturner. At first, Emily finds serenity in the old house she just bought. Her peace is shattered when the remains of two women, buried more than a century apart, are found in her backyard. Not only does Emily refuse to leave her house but she becomes active in investigating these crimes, leaving herself open to be the next victim.
