Interesting short stories about the ladies who entertained the West. A few of them are still well-known. These were not "ladies of the night," but genuine actresses. Still, a few had so many husbands it was hard to keep track of them. And each story has at least one full page photograph of the actress.
All of these of these actresses toured the entertainment-starved West and made big bucks. Hey, when miners throw small bags of gold dust onto the stage after the performance what actress would complain about performing in a tent? Yet many of these actresses also performed in the best theaters of the U.S. and Europe. One slightly different gal performed at rodeos and was later elected to the Cowboy Hall of Fame.
