My very first Wilbur Smith novel. I must have read it 6 times over the years. A durable favorite. Slightly stilted dialogue, but a well-rounded, very "real" cast of characters -some you love, some you respect, some you fear, some you hate. Set against one of Wilbur Smith's "might have been" histories that draws you in and makes you a believer.
